Ty Hubbard, Head Swim Coach
As a swimmer since the age of five it has always been a dream of Ty’s to give back to the sport that has given so much to him. Ty Hubbard began his coaching career at the University of Miami where he served as a volunteer assistant in the spring of 2001. Ty’s knowledge in swimming stems from his personal experience in the pool. In high school he was considered one of the most highly decorated swimmers in Missouri. Ty was an 11-time 1st Team All-State swimmer and a 2-time All-American. And in 1997, after graduating from high school he won the 1500m freestyle at the Central Zone Championships in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. While at Miami, Ty was a 4-time 1st Team All-Big East member, and in each of his four years at Miami the team finished in the Top 10 nationally, while he finished among the top 16 in 400 Individual Medley, and the 1000 and 1,650 yard freestyle events. Ty also served as the team’s captain in 2000 and 2001 while being awarded the IBIS Award winner for dedication and leadership from the school’s athletic department. Ty Hubbard graduated from the University of Miami in 2001 with a B.A. in Biochemistry, and in May of 2004 he received his MBA in management from Columbia College. Ty is a native of Columbia and currently works for Scheppers Distributing Company, an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler.

Kristen Zap, Swim Instructor/Lifeguard
The Missouri Athletic Center is proud to have Rolla native, Kristen Zap as a swim instructor and lifeguard. Kristen has taught swim lessons and been a lifeguard for the past six years in Rolla. She has also managed an outdoor pool in Rolla for the past two years. Kristen is licensed in both Red Cross and Ellis Swim Lessons and has also been certified as an Ellis instructor as well as being CPR certified. Kristen will be a senior at the University of Missouri and is majoring in Psychology.
